Bukoto Homestay

We're Macklyn and Ginaa, two young Ugandan professionals who love welcoming travelers to our beautiful city. We both work during the day - Macklyn works 9am-6pm and Gina works 8am-5pm - which means you'll have plenty of privacy during the daytime while still having friendly, helpful hosts available in the evenings and on some weekends. We're passionate about showing visitors the real Kampala, beyond the typical tourist spots. We're happy to share our favorite local restaurants, help you navigate public transport, arrange affordable boda or taxi services, recommend hidden gems, or even join you for a chat over coffee. That said, we completely understand if you prefer your privacy - we're flexible and respect whatever level of interaction you're comfortable with. Our goal is simply to make you feel safe, comfortable, and at home during your stay. We speak English fluently and can help translate or communicate if you need assistance with anything during your visit. We're also happy to help coordinate airport pickup (we can arrange this at a reasonable rate) or answer any questions before your arrival. We’re just a short walk to Acacia Mall, with Carrefour, restaurants, cafes, cinema, banks, and plenty of local eateries serving authentic Ugandan food. The Uganda Museum and nearby taxi stages make getting around easy. Nearby important spots include Mulago Hospital (great for medical visitors), Makerere University (10–15 min), and Golf Course (10-20 min drive). Offices in Kololo, Nakasero, Kamwokya, and Naguru are also easily accessible. Bukoto is a quiet, safe, middle-class area popular with Ugandan professionals and expats. It’s peaceful at night, secure, and great for walking, yet central enough to reach anywhere in Kampala quickly. Here, you can enjoy authentic daily life while having modern conveniences close by.
