Our cabin is a part of our home, a separate and private space for guests, but we're right here if you need us. Nestled on the edge of Dartmoor National Park just outside Tavistock in West Devon, the cabin is a beautiful and unique home from home, secluded and surrounded by nature. The cabin sits sheltered by trees in our 1.5 acres of garden and orchard. We enjoy low levels of light pollution and starry nights. We're just 20 minutes from the A30 with great access to explore Dartmoor, with the Tamar Valley and Cornwall close by. Plymouth is around a 45-minute drive away, and Exeter and the North and South coasts are around an hour's drive. This area is rich in history, from farming to mining, with many beautiful places to explore. Living here is Nathan and his wife Harriet, and their dog Pippin, who is super-friendly and always keen to greet visitors. Your own dog is welcome here if they're polite and get on well with other dogs. The cabin has a private bedroom, shower room, kitchenette, dining and living areas, and a writing desk. Ideal for those working in the area or looking for a peaceful base to write, work or explore the West Country. We particularly welcome professionals, including those working at Derriford Hospital nearby. The cabin is warm on cold nights, with central heating and a wood burner. For summer visits or morning coffees, there's a picnic table outside. The cabin sits in our garden, to which you have access, including a timber roundhouse in the orchard and plenty of places to sit with a book or listen to the birds. We do as much as we can to welcome nature to our home, so you'll find a wild garden with plenty of flora and fauna. We live on the edge of a working dairy farm, so a herd of dairy cows are our occasional neighbours. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to make tea and coffee or your own meals, with a fridge with freezer, gas cooker and grill, and ceramic hob as well as a kettle and toaster. We'll start you off with a light breakfast including milk, cereal, biscuits, tea, coffee and juice for the beginning of your stay. We're good cooks and are happy to discuss any other meal options or packed lunches that you might need - just let us know in advance. We prioritise good, healthy food and local foods where we can, and provide recommendations for good places to eat locally. We'll usually be there when you arrive to welcome you to the cabin, and to help and answer questions through your stay - and we're really keen to share the best places to visit in the area. We're on a national cycle route and can provide lockable bike storage. We're happy to advise on public transport, taxis and getting around, and we can help with lifts or collection from local bus and train stations subject to distance and by prior arrangement. Nathan and Harriet are both English speakers with only a little French, Spanish and Italian, but we're keen to do our best to help you if you speak another language, using translation apps!
