Retired but still active, we welcome travellers to our wonderful York, to experience real Yorkshire hospitality, food and the unique culture the area has to offer. We let out 2 rooms, both light and airy and with stunning views over a field, a golf course and a little lake, yet we are just 3 stops on a bus that goes to the city centre every 10 minutes! You can just stay, or let us show you this fantastic area. No pets here, but we feed the garden birds that come into our little private garden. Our house is over 100 and we furnish it with a mix of antique and modern furniture, but it is always comfortable, clean and cosy. We have a big shared, busy family room and a quiet lounge. We enjoy cooking local and international meals, will cater for special diets for a small extra price, but you can also use the modern kitchen for drinks and snacks only. Please note, we now reserve the right to refuse guests if the coronavirus is a threat.

- We would ask you to pay for your stay within a day of arrival unless you have asked specifically in advance for other arrangements.
- You are welcome to invite a friend, but not overnight and introduce them to us first, please.
- If you need anything, please ask. Extra bedding, towels, hairdryer etc can be made available. on request.
- You may do laundry in a full load. If you have smaller amounts this can go in with our washing or with your bedlinen. Small, personal loads will incur a small charge. There are lines outside for drying clothes, some of which are sheltered from rain. We wish to avoid mould by not drying clothes indoors.
- You may by prior arrangement occasionally use the kitchen for making small meals, especially if we are not in. Please leave the kitchen as clean as you find it. Sometimes we will share a typical English meal with you, but if you would like to eat at a particular time or have particular dietary requirements, there would be a charge of £5 per meal, payable in advance.
Good to knowWe also offer a full, tailor made programme of events and activities if you'd like a learning and cultural experience or a fun packed holiday. Or Ruth, a qualified English teacher (who speaks a little French, Italian and German), will teach you literature, pronunciation, grammar, via full immersion. You can be private and quiet or join us dancing, sport or playing card games and quizzes. Learn to cook some local recipes like Yorkshire pudding or just relax in the garden - it's up to you! My face book page is full of foreign friends we have made through hosting. Parking outside. Simple meals are included, but all special diets or several course meals available at small extra cost.
