The Pelaez Rodriguez family lives 10 minutes by bus from the city center and about 10 minutes by taxi from the El Poblado district with its vibrant cafe culture, restaurants and nightlife. They can also organize trips to nearby attractions including coffee farms, traditional "Paisa" towns and locations further afield from Medellin. Johanna's mother is an excellent cook, specializing in the traditional fare of Colombia including the famous "Bandeja Paisa", a must-try for visitors to Medellin. If you are seeking to immerse yourself in the Colombian culture with a loving and hospitable family this could be the homestay experience for you. When Johanna is not at home, she could be replaced by some friend or her siblings to share with you and show you around or be able to talk about the city, if you want to practice your Spanish as well or share a while with her mother in her folk dance group.
